The Raymond Weil x Basquiat Special Edition Freelancer pays homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), an American contemporary artist and visionary whose influence continues to resonate within the worlds of art and culture. This special edition 7780 bi-compax chronograph showcases Basquiat's neo-expressionism artwork using primary colors blue, red, and yellow with the brilliance of Swiss watchmaking from within. It features a 43.5 mm titanium case with a fixed tachymeter scale bezel on a black ceramic top ring with a design inspired by Basquiat's paint strokes, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with antiglare treatment on both sides, matte black dial with the iconic "Pez Dispenser" crowned dinosaur, silver-tone and luminescent barrel-style hands, applied indices and the dinosaur's crown at the 12 o'clock position as hour markers which are laid out along a concentric circular section. Outwards, the sloped flange has a pulsometer scale calibrated for 30 pulsations and is easily tracked using the dual-colored central chronograph seconds hand. Two chronograph subdials positioned at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions display the 30-minute jumping disc, depicting Basquiat's three core painting themes, and the sub-seconds disc covered with a concentric spiral, a metaphor for Basquiat's personal reflections while a discreet date aperture is situated at the 6 o'clock position. The screw-down crown at 3 o'clock is also embellished with the crown motif while the black PVD-coated pushers are embellished with a dollar sign and a copyright sign, all iconic Basquiat symbols. Fitted with a black leather strap and secured by a titanium and steel folding clasp with a double push-security system. It has an exhibition caseback with Basquiat's signature showcasing the caliber RW5030, a Swiss automatic chronograph movement, that generates up to 62 hours of power reserve and is water-resistant up to 100 meters/330 feet.
