Following from a long line of Oris pilots' watches marching back to the early 1900s, the ProPilot X Calibre 400's power and aesthetics lie beyond its associations. Nicknamed "Laser", a reference to the novel lasering technique utilized to achieve its unique dial effect. This technological beauty was developed in collaboration with ETH Zurich and features a 39 mm multi-piece titanium case that holds a multicolored and iridescent dial under a double-domed sapphire crystal. The innovative dial's finish was based on designs emulated from nature or biomimicry, its blue, green, and violet colors replicating the kaleidoscopic sheen found in bubbles or beetles' wings. It has silver-tone and luminescent obelisk hands with black stick and luminous indices as hour markers. This watch has an angled coin-edge fixed bezel which resembles a jet engine's turbine. Similar design cues are evident on the caseback and screw down crown at the 3 o'clock position. It is fitted with a very sleek and angular multi-piece titanium bracelet and secured by a folding clasp, which interestingly resembles an aircraft seatbelt. This watch has an exhibition caseback showcasing the in-house calibre Oris 400, a Swiss automatic movement capable of 120-hours or 5-days worth of power reserve, elevated levels of antimagnetism and is water-resistant up to 100 meters/330 feet.
