As an homage to the distinguished authors who expanded our literary horizons, shaping entire eras and cultural movements, Montblanc unveiled the Writers Edition collection featuring literary canons that invented the written word and gave rise to its passions and perspectives. This Writers Edition ballpoint pen is dedicated to Robert Louis Stevenson, a Scottish novelist and imaginative storyteller known for works like "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "Treasure Island" which happens to inspire many details of this limited edition. The pen's overall shape and cone rings resemble a historic, extendable spyglass. The barrel is made of black precious resin decorated with engraved crosses with a larger "X" reminiscent of a location marker on a treasure map. The ivory-white colored cap has vertical lines that brings to mind the planks of the schooner "Hispaniola" and a traditional sea chest. Also decorating the cap is a compass rose and "1850-1894", the years of Stevenson's life. The platinum-coated clip resembles a belaying pin, a device where a ship's rigging lines are secured while the other platinum-coated elements include engravings of Stevenson's requiem quote, signature and the year "1866" to mark his first publication. This limited edition homage is crowned by a Montblanc emblem with an elevated pirate's skull and crossbones in ivory-white resin and comes in a special Writer's Edition gift box.
