IWC Pilot's Automatic Chronograph Bronze Blue Dial Blue Textile Strap Day/Date Mens Watch IW388109
IWC Pilot's Automatic Chronograph Bronze Blue Dial Blue Textile Strap Day/Date Mens Watch Model# IW388109 Producing its first pilot's watch in 1936, IWC has a long and excellent heritage in engineering robust tool watches, belonging to the original five companies and only Swiss manufacturer of B-Uhren watches. IWC's first pilot's watches was produced mainly for civil aviation purposes. An epitome of a versatile sports watch, the Pilot's Chronograph has a classic cockpit-instrument look, precise movement and a global following. This Pilot's Chronograph features a 41 mm bronze case that holds a matte blue "Type A" dial under a scratch-resistant convex sapphire crystal. It has gold-tone and luminescent lozenge hands, indices and orientation triangle with 2 dots on either side at 12 o'clock combined with gold-tone Arabic numerals as hour markers. This minimalistic dial design allowed pilots improved legibility and easier 12 o'clock indication for both daytime and nighttime. A bronze screw down crown flanked with bronze pushers at 3 o'clock, day/date apertures and 3-subdial layout with running seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour timers combine to form a near-perfect reinterpretation of IWC's first Pilot's Chronograph and Double Chronograph, references no. 3705 and 3711 respectively. A touch of red contrast is evident via the running seconds hand amidst the blue and gold theme. Fitted with a blue textile strap and secured by a bronze signed buckle which completes the vintage look. This watch also features a screw down exhibition caseback showcasing the IWC-manufactured caliber 69385, a Swiss automatic chronograph movement boasting 46 hours of power reserve, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and is water-resistant up to 100 meters/330 feet.
