Launched in 1969, the instantly recognizable square classic and heavily inspired by motor-racing, The Monaco collection is TAG Heuer's unique icon of avant-garde heritage and savoir-faire. This faithful remake of the vintage Monaco features a 39 x 39 mm stainless steel square case with a stunning matte blue opaline dial and silver-tone square sub-dials at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions under a thick and beveled scratch-resistant sapphire. It has silver-tone horizontal indexes partnered with luminescent secondary dot hour markers, and main minute and hour hands that are coated with Super-LumiNova. The distinct case features two octagonal chronograph pushers on the right side while the famous left crown sits at the 9 o'clock position, a way to show that manual winding was no longer necessary. A date aperture at the 6 o'clock position adds function and symmetry. Fitted with a black perforated leather strap with a racetrack asphalt finish and secured by a stainless steel signed folding clasp. The exhibition caseback reveals the chronograph’s powerful engine, the Calibre 11, the first automatic chronograph movement with a micro-rotor which boasts of a 40-hour power reserve and is water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet.
